Healing: A Poem and a Personal Note

Healing by Julie Lorenzen

Healing from anything takes time
Each day can mean a step forward or a step backward
Almost everyone has something to heal from in their lifetime
Learning to cope with life's struggles is so important
It's imperative to realize that you are not alone
New people in your life that know what you're going through can give you a new perspective
Giving up should not be an option.

A Personal Note: I'm doing my best to recover from a bout of GERD otherwise known as acid reflux. Stress from being a busy and stressed-out mom (see list of side effects here) and drinking three cups of black coffee a day has caught up with me. On Sunday I was miserable standing, sitting and lying down. I'm better now but getting up from a reclining position is still painful.

However, a positive outlook and staying away from three mugs of black coffee a day will definitely help. So will taking this medicine and eating safe foods while staying away from coffee, chocolate and anything with tomato in it. In the meantime maybe I should go back and read my old post on stress management.

Anyway, it may be days before I post again. I have to rest as much as possible in between taking care of my family and home. In the meantime, I hope to heal a little more every day.

Thank you, Julie! If you are up to viewing the moniter and clicking back to my blog on Monday, you will see this post included in the Healing Blog Carnival.

BTW I'd like to kick my Nexium habit, too. Therapist, heal thyself! LOL. Barbara

Bummer. Sounds like you are going to be on a similar diet to mine. I don't do coffee, sodas, sugar and the list goes on. Suck! It can be tough.

I hope you get feeling better real soon.

To Barbara: You are welcome. Thanks for including my submission. : ) I'll stop by on Monday.

To Kayla: Thank you. : )

To Casdok: Me too!

To Marla: Yep it's a bummer. No chocolate. No coffee. I suppose the silver lining to this illness is that I achieved my weight loss goal by my personal deadline of Sept 20. Also, I can identify, at least temporarily, with people on the spectrum who find eating certain things to be painful. For awhile that was my struggle with all foods... .

I loved your poem, but was even more delighted with the links. 6 months ago I was diagnosed with acid reflux. 6 months of zegerid and I still have the primary symptom - it's painful to swallow. After a trip to radiology, the diagnosis is now "hiatal hernia" and my ENT referred me to a GI guy. I'll see him tomorrow. Meanwhile, I'll surf around a bit and get more educated. Thank you!

Julie, thanks for stopping by and reading my poem. I enjoyed yours too. You make lots of good points that sometimes we forget about. This blog carnival proves your "N".... reading everyone's submissions has probably given a lot of us a new perspective.
